Conference Tech Challenge

PURPOSE
The goal of this event is to provide an opportunity for theatre student to exhibit their abilities in the technical production environment. Production skills and collaboration are required to efficiently accomplish each task. Additional discretionary points may be awarded (or subtracted) by the judges for creativity, ingenuity, teamwork, etc.

Please read the handbook in its entirety before conference.

EVALUATION
The event is evaluated on both time and efficiency. Each component will count 50% of the overall score.

TEAMS
Each school may send one team composed of four members with at least one representative of each gender. A team must be comprised of only thespians from one school.

INDIVIDUAL
Schools also have the option of sending up to two individual competitors whether or not a team is participating. An individual can compete in a maximum of two individual events.

EVENTS
TEAM: Each team member will compete in an individual event – knot tying, light hang/focus, costume quick change, sound system setup, sew a button– and the team will compete together for the drape fold, leg a platform, and the tool label. The old age application event is a paired event (refer to the handbook). Each event will be timed and penalties recorded by the judge. There will be an overall second and first place team as well as a first place for each event.

*INDIVIDUAL: Each individual entry that is not part of a team may compete in up to two of the individual competitions – light / hang and focus, sound set up, costume quick change, knot tying, or sewing a button. Each event will be timed and penalties recorded by the judge. Each event will have a second and first place winner.

ENTRY
The entry form and fee is due to Cassandra R. Edwards by December 3, 2012. No entries will be accepted after that time. All payments should be made to Georgia Thespians.  All entry fees are non-refundable.
